Admission to Green500 list

For the first time, two cluster systems from MEGWARE have been admitted to the current issue of the Green500 list.

The Vienna Scientific Cluster 2 (VSC-2) with a value of 315.35 MFLOPS/W has been included on place 71. The cluster installed at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research (MPIE) in Düsseldorf has also been admitted to the Green500.

The Green500 list has been published twice a year since 2007 and is considered as an addendum to the TOP500 list of the most powerful supercomputers all over the world. It evaluates high-performance computers not only in terms of computer power but also in terms of energy requirement. The list is based on the measure "FLOPS per Watt" (number of floating point operations per second per watt), whereas the Top500 list is based only on the number of FLOPS.
