MEGWARE’s participation at the International Supercomputing Conference in Frankfurt a success – June 2016

MEGWARE has secured 412th place in the latest TOP500 supercomputing list for its new “BinAC” high-performance computer, supplied to the University of Tübingen. MEGWARE is particularly pleased with this ranking, since this is a hybrid high-performance computing system featuring 120 x NVIDIA K80 graphics accelerators, which have helped significantly improve performance – a key unique selling point. With over 8,000 CPU cores and an additional 3,120 GPU cores, this system is not just one of the fastest computers in Germany, but currently also in the world.

MEGWARE’s stand at the show – Stand 1330 – had a new, modern look, with a greater focus this year on MEGWARE’s product development activities.

“This year we gave over more space to showcase our hot water cooling solution Slide SX-LC and installed a pump and attached a heating device to demonstrate how a MEGWARE cluster can cool the relevant computing nodes using hot water of over 50 degrees Celsius, and how this water can be sensibly reused, using a heater by way of an example. The heating device with its water at almost 60 degrees Celsius caused quite a stir, with visitors only able to bear touching it very briefly indeed,” says (grinning) Jürgen Gretzschel, CEO of MEGWARE.

MEGWARE is looking forward to the upcoming supercomputing conference in Salt Lake City, from November 14-17, 2016, where we will be participating as a Numascale partner at their stand (Stand 2531), and we are also looking forward to the next big high-performance computer to be installed by MEGWARE appearing in the TOP500 list. MEGWARE was awarded the contract for the supply of a new HPC system for the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg just a few days ago – during the ISC in Frankfurt, to be precise.
