SC 2016 – Salt Lake City, 18/11/2016 – MEGWARE After four exhibition days, the results are overwhelmingly positive!

Thursday, 17 November marked the end of SC – The International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. This year, MEGWARE Computer GmbH once again shared a joint exhibition stand with Numascale , and after four busy days of presenting to some 50,000 trade visitors, we can look back on a thoroughly successful trade show.

It was well worth the work and expense, and MEGWARE only stood to benefit, first and foremost because the launch of our SlideSX®-LC cooling solution increased the level of awareness of our existing practical experience and made it possible to address potential new data centre infrastructure customers even more directly. Another milestone was the introduction of the newest version of the “Next Generation ClustWare®”. We demonstrated that we are fit for the future and are up to the challenge of meeting extensive requirements, not only in HPC, but also in the fields of big data, deep learning, data analytics, AI, OpenStack computing and storage, according to MEGWARE representative Jörg Heydemüller.

On the first day of the conference, interest in MEGWARE’s products and solutions was already notably high. The rush to the large exhibition stand 2531 was enormous from the outset. MEGWARE employees had their hands full in the days that followed as well, and were pleased to welcome not only existing customers and business partners, but also numerous prospective customers.

MEGWARE is the only German company to list two new references in the current Top 500 List, the list of the 500 fastest computers in the world. The new Mogon II at the University of Mainz is based on state-of-the-art Intel Xeon E5-2630v4 Broadwell processors and an Intel Omni-Path Interconnect, and it secured 265th place with 557 TFlops.

Another system, named “Meggie”, was built at the University of Erlangen and earned 346th place with 472 TFlops.

With these accomplishments we have once again shown that MEGWARE is a permanent feature of European high-performance computing, and customers from industry, research and education are increasingly relying on MEGWARE for significantly larger installations than in years past. “Already we can say that MEGWARE will experience healthy and significant growth again in 2016, which puts us in a strong position for a first Tier 1/Tier 0 project”, asserted Jürgen Gretzschel – Managing Director of MEGWARE.

The MEGWARE team would like to thank all visitors and customers for their pleasant conversations and joint projects and is looking forward to the upcoming International Supercomputing Conference (ISC-High Performance) in Frankfurt am Main from 18–22 June 2017. MEGWARE will be at stand 1330 again this year, and the global HPC community can once again look forward to the next large high-performance computer installed by MEGWARE to be published in the TOP500 List.
