MEGWARE Lands Three Systems on TOP500

HAMBURG, Germany, June 17-21 — Over the course of the last four days MEGWARE presented itself with a new booth design and three TOP500 projects at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC).  Europe is leading Conference and Exhibition on High Performance Computing, Networking and Storage. Visitors could look at current product developments at the MEGWARE booth, including the warm water direct-cooling system ColdCon, which is currently used for the CooLMUC supercomputer at the Leibniz-computer center in Garching.

With the publication of the TOP500 list within the frame of the ISC’12, it is clear that MEGWARE is represented with three projects on the list of the most powerful supercomputers for the first time. The HPC-Cluster MOGON, which was installed at the University of Mainz in the past weeks, is in place #81 with 33,792 processor cores and 204.99 Tflop/s. It takes 8th place among the German HPC systems. The ABEL-Cluster at the University of Oslo, which MEGWARE also installed in the past weeks, is ranked #96 with its 10,080 cores and 178.6 Tflop/s. The third MEGWARE system is the VSC-2. Austria’s most powerful supercomputer has been in operation at the Technical University of Vienna since May 2011. Last year it got started in 56th place. Currently, it is in 117th place.

MEGWARE is the only German supplier of HPCs that is currently represented on the TOP500 list with three projects.

For MEGWARE, ISC’12 was successful. We would like to thank all visitors and look forward to welcoming you at our booth at the ISC’13 in Leipzig next year.
